What are Confidence Clinics?
Confidence clinics are a four week course designed to help your dog become more comfortable at the vets.
We can’t perform miracles but we can help to form positive associations with the vets by having repeatedly good visits.
What do we do in these clinics?
The Clinic’s structure is tailored to the individual dog. Some dogs may hate the waiting room whereas others only become anxious when they receive a health check. The clinics will start with working on getting your dog into the consultation room happily and then progress to a full clinical exam.
Some dog’s progress very quickly others take a little longer to break those old associations down.
Theses clinics are only designed to help tackle nervous behaviour at the vets and not nervous behaviour elsewhere.
How do you book?
Call us on 0161 748 1124 who will email you a questionnaire. Once the nurse has reviewed your questionnaire she will call or email you to book an appointment and discuss the sessions further.
Please note, these clinics are currently only held at our Urmston branch.
Client feedback:
‘I feel like we made a lot of progress over the four sessions, from her being nervous in the waiting room and extremely distressed in consultation rooms, to her happily walking into the consultation rooms and allowing basic examination. I wasn’t sure how far we’d progress with her behaviour given how distressed she got prior to the sessions, but I’m really pleased with the progress made. I feel you explained everything well in terms of what we were doing and why which helped. The training techniques are similar to techniques we’ve practiced with other behaviours through training classes and I think she responded well to them. I like that we have a plan of action for the future too to maintain the progress made. ‘
