We are a small animal practice in Reading, first established as part of the Nine Mile Veterinary Group set up in 1985. We are passionate about animal care and our skilled team of veterinarians and vet nurses are dedicated to providing the highest quality care for your animals. Because we love animals and strive to provide excellent continuity of care, we are open six days a week and have access to 24-hour emergency care. For your added convenience, there’s free parking for clients at our surgeries.
Megan qualified in 2014 from the University of Bristol, where she developed a particular interest in surgery and cardiology. She then spent two and a half years working in a mixed practice in the Peak District before joining Buchanan’s at the start of 2017 to focus on small animal work. She is keen to develop her surgical skills and is very excited about the busy and varied caseload Buchanan’s has to offer. In her spare time, Megan enjoys playing tennis, hockey and running with her lively Spaniel cross Labrador, Rocket. She also loves painting, drawing and visiting new places.
Dr Sara Formoso MRCVS
Sara qualified as a veterinary surgeon in September 2013 at Complutense University of Madrid. She then went to work in New Zealand for 12 months in a 24-hour emergency care hospital. After leaving New Zealand she came to England where she was accepted onto the CVS Graduate Programme. Sara joined Buchanan Veterinary Group in May 2015. She loves being a vet and would like to gain her certificate in surgery but also loves medicine and imaging. In her spare time, Sara loves to cook vegetarian food, enjoys spending time with family and travelling.
Dr Encarnacion Gonzalez MRCVS
Encarna joined Buchanan Veterinary Group in May 2016. She qualified as a veterinary surgeon in September 2014 at the Complutense University of Madrid. Encarna has worked in numerous hospitals in order to gain experience in veterinary medicine. She has also completed an intensive course in ophthalmology at university. Encarna would like to gain more experience in ophthalmology and is working really hard towards achieving this. She enjoys talking and spending time with our clients and their pets, making sure she offers the best possible care available. In her spare time, Encarna likes to go ice-skating and to the cinema; she also loves to read.
Dr Rebecca Leigh BVMS MRCVS
Becky joined Buchanan Veterinary Group as a veterinary surgeon in October 2014. She graduated from Glasgow University and spent 18 months working as both a large and small animal vets in the heart of Yorkshire before giving up the large animal work; Becky quickly learnt her love lies with domestic pets and has particular interests in small animal surgery. Outside of work she really enjoys agility training with her working Cocker Spaniel, Baxter. She also keeps herself fit by playing tennis and regularly attending classes at the local gym.
